A career academy is a program within a school that combines a college preparatory curriculum with a career focus. It provides unique learning opportunities through extensive business partnerships, integrated instruction, hand-on learning, field studies, service learning, career shad-owing, co-ops, and internships. Academies link classroom learning to career goals, helping students to see relevance of what they are learning in the classroom. Students receive a more personalized education thanks to the team of teachers who work together to meet the needs of the student, both as a learner and as a young adult. Students who complete an approved acad-emy program may be eligible to receive the Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award, which pays for 75% of the tuition and fees at a Florida public institution of higher learning. Academies provide students with real world experiences that help build a resume and gain experience in the work force. Academies encourage students to push themselves to higher levels in a challenging field, something that colleges look favorably on no matter what the student ultimately decides to major in when they get to college.

This academy prepares students for careers in marketing and business management. Activities are hands-on and project-based. Students will be introduced to the Adobe Suite— Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Students also produce the ESM paper, media guides and print advertisements. Marketing aspects will be learned through the production of commercials, T.V. shows, and movies. Students operate an on–campus retail and internet store. They develop the skills to become a business and marketing leader. Students learn how to run a business, manage finances, and host major events. Students simulate business development and operation to realistically evaluate the potential to become a business owner. Students graduate from our academy having developed the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to start and operate a business. Join the Academy that will help you find your future career and fulfill your passion for Culinary Artistry. All of this is possible in the  Culinary Arts Academy. We run an on and off campus Catering Service, cooking for up to 300 people. We participate in Cookies Across America (with the National Restaurant Association) providing cookies to the homeless. We also run a Restaurant on campus that is open to the public. Come get your career on track and learn people skills.  We are backed by the Florida Restaurant Association. We are affiliated with Daytona State College We offer ProStart Certification and ServSafe Certification. We have hands on experience in the kitchen, go on industry visits, take field trips and participate in numerous competitions. We are members of the FCCLA Club. Since 1998 The Medical Academy ahs been a unique partnership between Bert Fish Medical Center and New Smyrna Beach High School. This four-year program of study includes a rigorous academic and career-focused curricula. Students who are accepted into the Medical Academy will be offered a variety of experiences in the healthcare field. Medical and health related topics are integrated into academic classes. Upon graduation from the Medical Academy, students will be prepared for immediate employment, or admittance to a two- or four-year college or university.
