Animal Science
The content in the Animal Science & Services program includes but is not limited to planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues, health, safety and environmental issues, and the use and care of animal health-care instruments, animal grooming equipment, animal restraining equipment, and laboratory equipment. The program also includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster.
Our Animal Science Program has an offsite land lab that offers students the opportunity to learn and receive practical experience on a farm. Students use this land lab to learn about the medical, nutritional, and environmental needs of larger farm animals.
Job Shadowing and Internships are available for students. Local farmers, veterinarians, breeders, and alumni members of the FFA join our students, offering guidance, mentoring, and career information. Our students participate and compete nationally as members of the local FFA Chapter.
